Commanders vs. Eagles Injury Report

The Eagles officially rule out one player, list another as questionable.

When asked on Friday about how healthy Jonathan Greenard would have to be to see playing time, Nick Sirianni said that it was up to team doctors. Now it is official. Greenard has been ruled out for the Eagles' season opener against the Commanders. The outside linebacker missed all of Training Camp with a pectoral injury and returned to practice in a limited capacity this week.

The only other player who was on Wednesday's initial injury report was rookie tight end Eli Stowers. The Vanderbilt Commodore has been a limited participant at practice, coming back from a hamstring injury he suffered in the preseason game against the Patriots. Stowers is officially questionable for Sunday, but the rookie is optimistic about his status for Sunday.

"I'm back into practice and I'm doing well," Stowers told reporters on Friday.

When asked about whether he expects to play, Stowers said that he believes so and that "it's the plan."

Earlier this week Special Teams Coordinator Michael Clay talked about the potential of playing Stowers on special teams. Stowers said he is excited to get involved with special teams if his number is called.

"Just to get back onto the field and be able to play in the first real regular-season game, it's a blessing," Stowers said of the possibility of playing Sunday.

All other players on the active roster are good to go against the Commanders on Sunday.

Thursday's Injury Report

Will outside linebacker Jonathan Greenard make his Eagles debut this Sunday against the Washington Commanders?

Acquired from Minnesota during a trade on NFL Draft weekend, Greenard missed all of Training Camp with a pectoral injury. He was a limited participant both Wednesday and Thursday.

"It's a marathon. As much as I'm ready to get out there, I got to listen to the body and listen to the training staff," Greenard told reporters in the locker room following Thursday's practice.

When asked point-blank if he is going to play Sunday, Greenard said it's up to the team. Defensive Coordinator Vic Fangio said, "We'll see," when asked on Thursday about Greenard's availability.

Rookie tight end Eli Stowers (hamstring) was also a limited participant on Wednesday and Thursday.

The Commanders added two starting defensive linemen to their injury report on Thursday in Daron Payne and Javon Kinlaw.

Payne was limited on Thursday due to a knee injury, while Kinlaw was a full participant with a back injury.

Payne, a former first-round pick and Pro Bowl player in 2022, is third in tackles for loss among NFL DTs since '22, tied for fourth in sacks, and fifth in QB hits.

Kinlaw, also a former first-round pick, started every game for Washington last season and accounted for 43 tackles, five for loss, three QB hits, and a forced fumble.

The rest of Washington's injury report from Wednesday was the same, with starting edge rushers K'Lavon Chaisson (knee) and Odafe Oweh (calf) limited.

Wednesday's Injury Report

Good news for the Philadelphia Eagles as they practiced in pads on Wednesday ahead of Sunday's season opener against the Washington Commanders – the entire 53-man active roster had some level of participation.

Outside linebacker Jonathan Greenard, who missed all of Training Camp with a pectoral injury, was limited on Wednesday.

Tight end Eli Stowers, the second-round pick who suffered a hamstring injury in the second preseason game against the Patriots in New England, was also limited.

Everyone else was a full participant.

The Eagles host the Commanders on Sunday, September 13 at Lincoln Financial Field. Before kickoff, check out the team in action at the Jefferson Health Training Complex.

For the Commanders, everyone on the active roster was also a full participant, but the Commanders will be without five-time Pro Bowl left tackle Laremy Tunsil after the former first-round pick suffered a torn triceps muscle during Training Camp. Brandon Coleman is the projected starter at left tackle against the Eagles on Sunday.

The Commanders are also without starting cornerback Trey Amos, who suffered an ankle injury in Training Camp after returning from a fractured fibula that cose him the latter half of the 2025 season. Amos is on Injured Reserve, Designated for Return, so he will miss the season opener. Former Eagle Rasul Douglas starts opposite Mike Sainristil with Amik Robertson in at nickel.

Three Commanders were limited on Wednesday.

Both starting outside linebackers K'Lavon Chaisson (knee) and Odafe Oweh (calf) were limited. The Commanders signed both of the players in free agency to bolster the pass rush. Chaisson, a former first-round pick, had a breakout season with the Patriots last season, posting a career-high 7.5 sacks, while Oweh, also had 7.5 sacks for the Chargers after being traded by the Ravens midseason.

Washington is also without veteran lineman Dorance Armstrong due to a suspension.

Running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt was the third Commanders player who was limited on Wednesday. He is dealing with a groin injury. Former Buccaneers running back Rachaad White is the backup to Croskey-Merritt.
