On Friday afternoon, the Eagles made a move in the defensive secondary, placing safety Jerome Couplin on injured reserve with a shoulder injury. To replace Couplin, the Eagles promoted safety Ed Reynolds from the practice squad to the active roster.
Couplin was signed by the Eagles in December 2014 off of the Detroit Lions' practice squad. After winning a job on the Eagles' active roster in this year's Training Camp, Couplin played a key role on special teams and added to the team's secondary depth this season.
Reynolds is a fifth-round pick of the Eagles in the 2014 NFL Draft out of Stanford. He was waived as part of the final roster cutdown to 53 players just before the 2015 season, but signed to the practice squad a few days later. Reynolds intercepted two passes against the Indianapolis Colts in the preseason opener this year.
