Cowboys vs. Eagles Injury Report

Friday's Injury Report

Jalen Hurts did not participate in Friday's practice and is officially out for Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys. Hurts suffered a concussion last Sunday in Washington and remains in the NFL's concussion protocol.

Kenny Pickett, who replaced Hurts in the first quarter last week, is in line to start at quarterback. Pickett is dealing with injured ribs and was limited in Friday's practice. The Eagles also have Tanner McKee, who has been the emergency third quarterback this season, and signed Ian Book to the practice squad if they want to elevate him for the game.

"He's done a great job. He did a great job last week. I know he had a few hiccups, but overall he's doing a great job. It's not his first rodeo. We have a lot of confidence in him, I do, and I'm excited," wide receiver A.J. Brown said of Pickett on Friday.

"(He's) poised, confident. He comes in; he's commanding the huddle, and that's what you want to see."

The Eagles will also be without wide receiver/punt return Britain Covey, who did not practice on Friday due to the neck injury he suffered against Baltimore on December 1. Cooper DeJean has returned punts in Covey's absence.

Running back Will Shipley also suffered a concussion in Washington and will miss the Dallas game as well. In addition to his role at running back, the rookie is also involved on kickoff return duty. Isaiah Rodgers replaced him on kickoffs last Sunday. The Eagles have options on the practice squad in Tyrion Davis-Price and Lew Nichols if they want to elevate a third back behind Saquon Barkley and Kenneth Gainwell.

The Eagles may also be without starting inside linebacker Nakobe Dean, who is doubtful with an abdomen injury. Dean was limited in practice this week. Veteran Oren Burks is in line to start if Dean is unable to go.

Defensive end Bryce Huff was a full participant in Friday's practice. He is listed as questionable, as he would need to be activated from Injured Reserve in order to be eligible to suit up on Sunday.

Thursday's Injury Report

The Eagles held their first full practice of the week on Thursday ahead of Sunday's matchup with the Dallas Cowboys.

Quarterback Jalen Hurts did not participate in practice due to the concussion he suffered in Washington.

Head Coach Nick Sirianni was asked on Thursday during his press conference if he had a sense of whether or not Hurts would have a chance to play against the Cowboys.

"Still waiting to find out. As you guys know, when you're in concussion protocol, I have no say in that and Jalen has no say in that, so that's completely up to the doctors as it should be," Sirianni said.

Kenny Pickett spoke with reporters on Thursday and said that "I'll be ready and we'll be ready" for whichever scenario presents itself on Sunday.

"I’m just looking to do my part now," he said. "I just want to focus on doing my job each play. That's really my focus right now – being as prepared as possible to help us win this game."

The Eagles signed quarterback Ian Book to the practice squad on Thursday. Book was a member of the active roster during the 2022 run to the Super Bowl.

"Highly productive college career. We had an opportunity to get him after he had played a little in New Orleans," Sirianni said of Book. "Really enjoyed our time with him when he was here. Had some high hopes for him."

The only other player who did not participate in Thursday's practice for the Eagles was running back Will Shipley. The rookie is in the NFL's concussion protocol along with Hurts.

CeeDee Lamb's season is over

The Cowboys announced on Thursday that All-Pro wide receiver CeeDee Lamb will miss the final two games of the season with a lingering shoulder injury that has ailed him since Week 9.

Lamb is tied for second in the NFL with 101 receptions, ranks third with 1,194 receiving yards, and has six touchdowns this year.

Lamb was held to just one catch for 3 yards in the Week 10 matchup between these two teams. (Note: These were Lamb's rushing stats against the Eagles in the matchup. He had 21 yards on six receptions. We regret the error.)

Wednesday's Injury Report

The Eagles released their first injury report of the week on Wednesday ahead of Sunday's NFC East showdown with the rival Cowboys at Lincoln Financial Field.

The team did not hold a practice, so the following injury report is an estimation.

Quarterback Jalen Hurts would not have practiced on Wednesday due to the concussion he suffered last Sunday in Washington.

Meanwhile, backup quarterback Kenny Pickett would have been limited with injured ribs.

Tanner McKee, who has been the emergency third quarterback this season, explained on Tuesday that his preparation has not changed in the wake of the injuries in his position room.

"I feel like I've always been preparing to be the starter and preparing to play, and so my preparation is going to stay the same," McKee said. "And you know, I'm obviously excited for any opportunity that I do get, but we're going to take it day by day for those guys.

"I think just being around the guys, being around the system, I do feel a lot more confident with the system and NFL as a whole, how to read defenses, just from last year to this year, just having another year under my belt. And so if I do get the opportunity, I'm excited to show that."

Linebacker Nakobe Dean also would not have practiced with an abdomen injury.

Running back/return specialist Will Shipley is also in the NFL concussion protocol along with Hurts.

Two Eagles players working their way back from injury would have been full participants – wide receiver/punt returner Britain Covey (neck) and defensive end Bryce Huff (wrist). Covey has not played since the December 1 win in Baltimore, while Huff is working within the 21-day practice window to come off Injured Reserve.

Several other veterans would have had typical rest days on Wednesday.
