DB Bonner Makes Roster After Tryout

The Philadelphia Eagles announced they have signed rookie free agent defensive back Wade Bonner and released wide receiver Darnell Williams. Bonner had practiced with the team on a tryout basis during the club's rookie camp.

A four-year letterman at Mississippi State, the 5-10, 195-pound Bonner played in 48 career games for the Bulldogs, switching to the defensive side of the ball prior to the start of the 2009 season. He tallied 125 tackles and 2.5 sacks in three seasons as a defensive back, including a career-high 66 tackles as a senior in 2011. As a freshman in 2008, Bonner played in 12 games as a reserve running back, receiver and return man.

The Mason, Tenn., native attended Fayette Ware High School and earned all-state honors as a senior. He was a college teammate of defensive tackle Fletcher Cox and linebacker Jamar Chaney.
