Defensive end Trent Cole underwent what was described as a successful arthroscopic surgical debridement of his right elbow on Monday. The procedure was performed by Dr. Michael Ciccotti of the Rothman Institute at the Thomas Jefferson Surgical Center at the Navy Yards in South Philadelphia.
Cole was a first alternate for the Pro Bowl this year after registering 10.0 sacks to go along with 81 tackles. He started in every game except the regular season finale where most starters rested.
A fifth-round pick out of Cincinnati in 2005, Cole is third in franchise history with 57.0 sacks. He is third in the NFL since 2006 with 52.0 sacks.
