DE Jason Worilds, Virginia Tech | |||||
Pos. Rank: 12 | Grade: 3rd Round | Height: 6-1 1/2 | Weight: 254 | 40: 4.65 | Year: 4-Sr. |
The Good: Undersized yet explosive college pass rusher constantly disrupting the action up the field. Explodes off the snap with a terrific first step, plays with great pad level and gets underneath opponents. Fast off the edge, stays within his pass rush angle and makes plays from the back side. Quickly changes direction displaying the ability to get down the line of scrimmage and easily redirects to ball handlers. Gets a tremendous amount of momentum going up the field and has a terrific burst of closing speed, which he can sustain. Displays ability in pursuit and also dropped off the line, making plays in coverage during blitz situations.
The Bad: Lacks height, undersized, and easily pushed from his angle of attack by a single blocker. Will be engulfed by large blockers.
The Verdict: Worilds was a disruptive force who made opposing quarterbacks uncomfortable and disrupted their rhythm with the ability to quickly get up the field. His sacks total from last season were nothing special, but the game film proved Worilds was a difference maker. His ability to drop off the line of scrimmage and play in space was also impressive. Likely to be under-drafted, Worilds has all the skills necessary to make an impact as a rush linebacker in a 3-4 alignment.
