Defensive end Cedric Thornton signed a one-year deal with the Eagles on Monday, the team announced.
Originally undrafted out of Southern Arkansas in 2011, Thornton had been a restricted free agent.
The 26-year-old Thornton has thrived for the Eagles since the team transitioned to a 3-4 defense two seasons ago. He has started all 32 games for the Eagles over that time, accumulating 139 tackles and 2.0 sacks over the last two seasons.
He returns to an impressive group of young defensive linemen on the Eagles that includes Fletcher Cox, Bennie Logan and Vinny Curry, among others.
