The Eagles signed defensive back Jonathan Hefney to the practice squad Tuesday.
Hefney was originally signed by Tampa Bay as an undrafted rookie this past May, but was later released in July. A four-year letterwinner at Tennessee, he appeared in 51 games including 50 consecutive starts, the most by a position player in school history. Hefney tallied 322 tackles, 22 passes defensed and 10 interceptions during his Volunteer career. Additionally, he gained 559 yards on 67 punt returns and 138 yards on eight kickoff returns. Hefney earned All-SEC honors as a senior as well as Freshman All-SEC honors following one year of prep school at Hargrave (VA) Military Academy. The 23-year old Hefney is a native of Rock Hill, SC.
To make room on the practice squad, the Eagles relased cornerback Kyle Arrington.
