Vince Verhei of Football Outsiders recently took a look at the success of every NFL franchise from 2000-2009. The Eagles finished the decade tied for third with the Pittsburgh Steelers with an average of 10.4 wins per season. The Indianapolis Colts had the highest mark of average wins with 11.5. In terms of playoff success, the Eagles actually finished tied for second with the Steelers. Verhei measured playoff success as playoff wins plus first-round byes so that every round advanced counts as a win. From 2000-2009, the Eagles advanced to the next round of the playoffs 13 times, trailing only the New England Patriots who notched an impressive 18. The Eagles earned three first-round byes in the decade. The Eagles were also one of the most consistent teams of the decade. Their standard deviation of number of wins per season was a very low 2.08, making them the fourth most consistent team of the decade. The Buffalo Bills were the most consistent team of the decade, but only the Denver Broncos had a more consistent decade among teams to average over eight wins a season.
