The Eagles made a roster move Monday, signing linebacker Emmanuel Acho off the practice squad of the New York Giants. Acho spent the 2013 offseason with the Eagles and was one of the final players on the bubble when the team cut the roster to 53 players. Prater, 23, was claimed off waivers by the Eagles prior to the start of the season after he was released during the Cincinnati Bengals' final roster cutdown.
"We brought him back," said general manager Howie Roseman. "He had a good preseason. Jake Knott had a hamstring injury yesterday. We're looking for another linebacker-type body. He was productive on special teams in the preseason. He knows the defense, so it made sense."
Acho was originally a sixth-round pick of the Cleveland Browns in 2012 and spent his rookie season on injured reserve. He will join the ranks of Jake Knott, Casey Matthews and Najee Goode at inside linebacker behind starters DeMeco Ryans and Mychal Kendricks. Knott left Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys with a hamstring injury and did not return.
