EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – New York started the second quarter with the ball on its 10-yard line, trailing 14-10. Philadelphia's defense forced a three-and-out series and took possession at its 43-yard line after Steve Weatherford's punt went out of bounds.

Two LeSean McCoy runs gained 7 yards and then quarterback Mark Sanchez missed on a throw to Darren Sproles on third down, and Donnie Jones punted. New York had the ball back at its 11-yard line.

The Eagles held again, and Weatherford's punt bounced to the Philadelphia 38-yard line, where the Eagles took possession with 11 minutes, 57 seconds remaining in the second quarter.

A Sanchez mistake turned the football right back to New York. Sanchez faked a handoff to McCoy and stepped up in the pocket and threw left for tight end Zach Ertz. The throw was behind Ertz and Sanchez did not see safety Mike Harris, who intercepted the pass at the New York 40-yard line and returned it to the Philadelphia 49-yard line line.

Eli Manning completed a 14-yard pass to Odell Beckham, Jr. to the 35-yard line. Another completion, to Rueben Randle, moved the ball to the 20-yard line. Beckham went inside for a catch and gain to the 8-yard line. The defense held on two passes and a run, including a key stop on a third-down throw to Beckham, and New York settled for a 20-yard Josh Brown field goal to make it 14-13 with 7:26 remaining in the half.

New York went back to Randle for a 36-yard gain against Jaylen Watkins after the Eagles failed on offense to gain a first down at the 50-yard line. Then Malcolm Jenkins was penalized for a face mask, and suddenly New York at the ball at the Philadelphia 28-yard line. Manning threw for Randle on a back-shoulder pass for 25 more yards to the 3-yard line, and two plays later Randle was penalized for offensive pass interference, moving the ball to the 13-yard line. Cornerback Cary Williams had two passes defensed in the end zone, and nearly had an interception, and the Giants again had to settle for three points on a 36-yard Brown field goal with 2:02 left in the quarter to give New York the lead at 16-14.

The Eagles worked quickly to get into scoring position. A Sanchez completion to Ertz gained 19 yards to the 39-yard line at the two-minute warning. Sanchez threw for Jordan Matthews for 3 yards but was then sacked by Jason Pierre-Paul for a 9-yard loss. On third and 16, Sanchez escaped pressure and stepped up and delivered a strike to Jeremy Maclin for a gain of 20 yards to the New York 47-yard line.

On first down from there, Sanchez ran out of bounds after a gain of 6 yards. A screen pass to Sproles gained 10 yards to the 31-yard line with 25 seconds remaining in the quarter. Then a completion to Riley Cooper gained 22 yards to the Giants 9-yard line with 12 seconds left. The Eagles had one timeout remaining.

A throw for Ertz was incomplete and then the Eagles were penalized for delay of game. Then Sproles couldn't bring in a Sanchez pass in the end zone and the half ended on a 32-yard Cody Parkey field goal to give the Eagles a 17-16 lead after two quarter. The Eagles drove 66 yards in 11 plays in 2:02 to reclaim the lead.
