The Philadelphia Eagles announced on Wednesday that Tim McDermott has been named the club's Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer. McDermott, a native of the Philadelphia area, has spent the last four years with the same title at the Washington Capitals.
McDermott will report to President Joe Banner and be responsible for building and growing new business opportunities within and around the organization.
"We are very excited to have Tim back in Philadelphia and back on our team," said Banner. "Tim's creative mind and strong business acumen are a welcomed addition to the organization."
In his role with the Capitals, McDermott successfully developed the team's brand identity as well as dramatically increased attendance, ratings, merchandise sales and web site traffic.
Sports have always played a major role in Tim's life. Growing up, his father coached football and he played football in both high school and college. He earned a degree in Business Management and Marketing Principles from Cornell University and a Master's in Business Administration from Harvard Business School. Professionally, Tim spent time with the Jacksonville Jaguars, San Diego Chargers and Comcast Corporation before landing his first stint with the Eagles as Senior Director of Marketing. McDermott's brother Sean is the Defensive Coordinator for the Eagles.
McDermott will be responsible for managing and growing marketing, advertising, merchandising, internet/new media and broadcasting for the team.
"I want to thank Jeffrey and Christina Lurie and Joe Banner for giving me this opportunity," said McDermott. "I never stopped rooting for the Eagles and it will be a dream fulfilled to work again for the same team as my brother."
