The Eagles opened up a spot on the 53-man active roster Friday by placing defensive end Bryce Huff on Injured Reserve.
Huff was scheduled to undergo a wrist procedure on Thursday that will hopefully allow him to return before the end of the season. He will miss at least the next four games, starting with Sunday night's prime-time showdown in Los Angeles.
"He's really done a good job of batting through, but this will hopefully help him get some more function in that hand," Sirianni said earlier this week.
Signed by the Eagles on the first day of free agency, Huff had 2.5 sacks, 4 QB hits, 13 QB pressures, and a forced fumble in 225 defensive snaps. Huff joined the Eagles after four years with the New York Jets. He entered the league as a rookie free agent out of Memphis.
Coach Sirianni praised the depth behind Huff and those players' ability to step up in the defensive end's absence.
"We feel good about the depth that we have here and some of the young guys. Nolan's (Smith) done a really good job, and Jalyx (Hunt), we'll see where he is as we continue on here. Jalyx keeps getting better as a football player," Sirianni said. "(Josh) Sweat's had some really good games and been playing at a top-notch level. BG (Brandon Graham) is continuing to be steady throughout like he has his entire career."
