The Eagles placed guard Sua Opeta on the Injured Reserve list Saturday with a back injury. The Eagles did not announce a corresponding roster move at the time.
It is unclear how or when exactly Opeta suffered the injury, but he was added to the injury report on Saturday as a non-participant. He was ruled out for Monday night's game before placing him on Injured Reserve.
The 24-year-old appeared in eight of the Eagles' first 10 games, starting two of them (both Giants matchups) in 2020. A second-year player out of Weber State, Opeta signed with the Eagles as an undrafted free agent following the 2019 NFL Draft. He spent the beginning of his rookie season on the practice squad before being signed to the active roster last December.
The 6-4, 305-pound Opeta started this season on the practice squad, but was elevated to the active roster for the season opener. The Eagles signed Opeta to the active roster on September 15. He made his NFL debut against the Bengals and has played in every game since, totaling 170 (24 percent) of the snaps on offense.
