"For My Cause My Cleats, I chose to go with the Police Athletic League because that was the league, I grew up in playing football. The National Football League's My Cause My Cleats campaign is an annual initiative that empowers players to express their commitment to the causes they support through creative artwork and custom designs on their game cleats. To recognize and celebrate the positive impact players are having across the country, the Philadelphia Eagles will join the NFL community in Week 14 by lacing up their custom cleats and sneakers.
The Eagles will showcase their charitable causes on a national stage when they host division rival New York Giants at Lincoln Financial Field on Monday, December 9. The game will kick off at 8:15 PM on ESPN's Monday Night Football. Throughout the game on Monday, player causes and their inspirational messages will be incorporated into the gameday presentation, as well as the action on the field.
More than 30 Eagles players will be wearing custom cleats on Monday night, supporting several charitable causes such as Carson Wentz's focus on Spiritual and Physical Blessings for Youth, Malcolm Jenkins highlighting "College Behind Bars," Jake Elliott's support of Animal Rescue, Brandon Brooks' work with Mental Health Awareness, and several players including Jason Kelce, Jason Peters, and Fletcher Cox supporting Autism Awareness. In further support of this initiative, Eagles ownership, coaches, cheerleaders, and support staff will be wearing sneakers to highlight the Eagles Autism Foundation.
Players will share images of their cleats and the stories behind them on social media using the hashtag #MyCauseMyCleats. The Eagles worked directly with local customizers as well as Nike, Under Armour, and adidas to design the cleats and sneakers that will be on display Monday night.
"My Cause My Cleats is a powerful platform and we are proud to shine a spotlight on our players, the causes that are important to them, and the many ways in which our players are positively impacting the community around them," said Jeffrey Lurie, Philadelphia Eagles Chairman and CEO. "In addition, our entire organization will be showing its support of the team's community platform as all of our staff will be wearing sneakers that highlight the Eagles Autism Foundation."
Players will raise funds for the causes of their choosing by auctioning their cleats off at NFL Auction, where 100 percent of the funds raised will be donated to charities selected by the players. Fans may bid on game-issued player cleats at NFL.com/Auction and help players raise funds for their chosen causes. Select Eagles ownership and coaches will also be auctioning off their sneakers on NFL Auction as well.
The 2019 season marks the 100th year of the NFL. To commemorate this special occasion, the league has launched "NFL100," a year-long celebration to bring generations of football fans, players, communities, and all 32 clubs together for a unique lineup of programming and activities. As part of this milestone moment, the My Cause My Cleats branding will carry a special My Cause My Cleats-specific 100th season logo.
