The Philadelphia Eagles and SportsRadio 94WIP are excited to announce that the 2016 Eagles Radiothon raised $170,240 over a two-day auction that ran from Tuesday, Sept. 6 to Wednesday, Sept. 7. As part of the annual Radiothon, Eagles fans and 94WIP callers were provided the opportunity to bid on exclusive experiences involving their favorite Eagles players and 94WIP radio personalities. All proceeds will benefit Eagles Charitable Foundation, the team's 501(c)(3) public charity, which provides children in the Philadelphia region with greater access to vision care and autism research.
At a cost of $30 for a comprehensive vision exam and a pair of eyeglasses, more than 5,600 children in need would be able to receive vital eye care through the funds raised during the 2016 Eagles Radiothon.
"On behalf of the Philadelphia Eagles, I would like to express my sincere appreciation and gratitude to everyone who made this year's Radiothon a success," said Christina Weiss Lurie, President Eagles Charitable Foundation, Eagles Social Responsibility. "The annual support and valuable resources that SportsRadio 94WIP continues to supply for the Radiothon have contributed greatly to Eagles Charitable Foundation's mission of providing children in the Philadelphia region with greater access to vision care and autism research. To our fans, the auction bidders, staff members and 94WIP hosts, we are truly thankful for your generous contributions and involvement."
Over the course of the two days, callers were able to place bids during the following 94WIP shows: Angelo Cataldi & The Morning Team (6:00 am – 10:00 am), the Midday Show with Michael Barkann and Ike Reese (10:00 am – 2:00 pm), and the Afternoon Show (2:00 pm – 6:00 pm).
"The WIP Eagles Radiothon is a wonderful team effort with one common goal of helping raise money for Eagles Charitable Foundation," said Senior VP/Market Manager CBS Radio Philadelphia, David Yadgaroff. "We're once again overwhelmed by the generosity of WIP listeners and Eagles fans in our community. It's particularly rewarding to know that some of the money this year will go towards autism research. We're all very proud to know that the WIP Eagles Radiothon helps fund programs that improve the lives of so many children right here at home. Thank you to the staff and volunteers who work so hard to make the Radiothon a huge success."
