The Eagles re-signed tight end Alex Ellis to the practice squad on Monday evening. The 6-4, 245-pound Tennessee product spent Training Camp with the Eagles and was part of the initial practice squad. He was promoted to the active roster on September 6 and played primarily on special teams in the season opener.
After that game, Ellis bounced between the practice squad and active roster, playing in two more games. Ultimately, he was waived/injured on October 4.
A native of Delmar, Delaware, Ellis joined the NFL as a rookie free agent of the Tennessee Titans in 2016. He played in six games (three starts) as a rookie for Jacksonville and caught three passes for 11 yards in 124 snaps.
To make room for Ellis, the team released tight end Scott Orndoff.
