The Eagles announced the signing of defensive tackle Frank Trotter and linebacker Ryan Rau Thursday. Both players participated in this week's minicamps on a tryout basis and impressed the coaching staff enough to earn spots on the 90-man roster as the team prepares for training camp.
There are now 89 players on the Eagles roster.
Rau, 6-1, 230, was a four-year letterman at Portland State, where he ranks as the school's all-time leader in games played. Rau racked up 287 tackles in his career and led the team in each of his final three seasons. A native of Folsom, CA, Rau averaged 19 tackles per game and earned league MVP honors at Folsom high school.
Trotter, 6-2, 275, concluded his collegiate career third on Memphis' all-time list with 36.5 tackles for a loss, including a career-high 16.5 as a junior in 2010. He was originally signed as a rookie free agent by the Jacksonville Jaguars following the 2012 draft, but was released on 5/7. Overall, he started 36 games and amassed 195 tackles and five sacks, while earning All-Conference USA honorable mention honors twice. A native of Mobile, AL, played at John LeFlore high school, where he started on both offensive and defensive line.
