The Eagles began shaping their eight-man practice squad on Sunday afternoon as players who were released to get to the 53-man roster have cleared waivers. Five players were signed: defensive tackle Jeff Owens, guard Dallas Reynolds, center A.Q. Shipley, wide receiver Chad Hall and running back Martell Mallett.
Three spots are open as the Eagles wait to see which of the other teams' released players went unclaimed in waivers.
Owens was a seventh-round draft pick this year out of Georgia. Reynolds spent times last season on the Eagles practice squad. Shipley, a former seventh-round pick of the Steelers, was signed by the Eagles at the beginning of this past offseason. Hall had been out of football for the last two years fulfilling his military commitment. He was signed by the Eagles back in March. Mallett was the Offensive Rookie of the Year last year in the Canadian Football League.
