On Wednesday evening, the Eagles announced that the team plans on signing guard/center Julian Vandervelde to the active roster.
Guard/center Josh Andrews suffered a concussion on Wednesday at practice, making him unable to play on Sunday against Miami. In need of a backup center, the Eagles plan to bring back Vandervelde. To make room for Vandervelde on the roster, the Eagles released linebacker Brad Jones.
Jones was signed by the Eagles this past offseason and provided a veteran presence on special teams. He recorded six special teams tackles on the season. Vandervelde, a former fifth-round pick by the Eagles in 2011, has bounced back and forth from the Eagles active roster over the past few seasons.
