Appearing on his weekly radio show on 610WIP, head coach Andy Reid said that the Eagles worked out linebacker Jeremiah Trotter again today and that he did a "nice job."
The Eagles first worked out the four-time Pro Bowl middle linebacker last Thursday. Trotter last played in the NFL with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2007, following his second stint with the Eagles.
Omar Gaither started at middle linebacker on Sunday in the 34-14 win over the Chiefs. He led the Eagles with nine total tackles, according to the NFL Gamebook, and also had a tackle for loss and a quarterback hit. Larry Johnson had just 38 rushing yards on 19 carries. The Eagles did make a change at linebacker on Sunday, as Tracy White took Akeem Jordan's spot in the nickel formation.
A third-round pick of the Eagles in 1998, Trotter was with the team through the 2001 season before joining the Redskins. He returned to Philadelphia in 2004 and assumed the starting middle linebacker job once again in the middle of the season, helping the Eagles reach Super Bowl XXXIX. He remained with the Eagles through the 2006 season and was released prior to the start of the 2007 campaign.
