First, Trent Edwards forced his way onto the 53-man roster with a supremely impressive preseason. Now, Edwards has been rewarded for winning the third quarterback job with a new contract that will last through the 2013 season.
Edwards, 28, was 54-of-80 in four preseason games, throwing for 489 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions. His 100.5 quarterback rating ranked fifth in the league - two spots behind Edwards' compatriot Nick Foles.
