The Good: Athletic blocker with a nice size and terrific upside potential. Explosive off the line, quick out to the second level, and effective blocking in motion. Plays with a nasty attitude, displays outstanding vision, and attacks assignments. Jolts defenders at the point of attack and stays square, keeping defenders in front of him. Quickly sets in pass protection, keeps his feet moving, and is a solid position blocker who seals defenders from the action. Displays footwork in space and the ability to hit a moving target blocking in motion. Completed 45 repetitions on the bench press during his combine workout.
The Bad: Lacks dominant lower body power and gets pushed off the line by bigger, strong defensive tackles. Must learn to finish blocks.
The Verdict: Petrus really took to the offensive guard position and is a player with a bright future. Must physically mature and learn the details of the position, but he will eventually develop into a starter at the next level.
