After entering the second half with a 21-6 lead, the Eagles' defense failed to get a stop on four second-half possessions and gave up 29 points, allowing the Cardinals to come all the way back and win 35-31 on a James Conner 2-yard rushing touchdown with just 32 seconds left.
The Eagles are now 11-5 and are no longer in control of the NFC East race. If the Eagles and the Cowboys, who are also 11-5, finish in a tie following the Week 18 games, Dallas wins the division title based on the common opponents tiebreaker.
Find out how the game unfolded:
First Quarter
- On first-and-goal from the 3-yard line and 6:42 remaining in the quarter, Milton Williams chased down Kyler Murray for a loss of 9 yards! Murray fumbled on the play but recovered the loose ball. Later in the game, the play would be ruled a rush for Murray and not a sack for Williams.
- After marching to the Philadelphia 3-yard line, the Cardinals settled for a field goal. Williams' sack, a 2-yard rush by James Conner, and a pass breakup by Reed Blankenship on third down kept the visitors out of the end zone. Veteran Matt Prater nailed the 28-yard field goal with 5:09 remaining. (Cardinals 3 - Eagles 0)
- With a 7-yard rush on first down and just over 3 minutes remaining in the quarter, D'Andre Swift eclipsed 1,000 rushing yards for the first time in his four-year career!
- TOUCHDOWN! Julio Jones hauled in a 12-yard touchdown pass from Jalen Hurts in the back right corner of the end zone with 36 seconds remaining. Jones' scored his first touchdown since Week 8. Hurts broke the all-time franchise record for total touchdowns in a season (36) with this pass. A 16-yard catch by A.J. Brown and a 23-yard catch on third down by Dallas Goedert helped move the offense down the field. (Eagles 7 - Cardinals 3)
Second Quarter
- Sack! Jalen Carter grabbed Kyler Murray before he could escape.
- TOUCHDOWN! On the play after the sack, Sydney Brown intercepted Murray at the Philadelphia 1-yard line and took it 99 yards to the house. Brown sprinted down the near sideline before weaving his way through Arizona defenders and finding the end zone with 11:44 left in the first half. This was Brown's first career interception and touchdown. This tied the fourth-longest interception in franchise history. (Eagles 14 - Cardinals 3)
- The Cardinals can't find the end zone after holding the ball for 9:54. They are forced to settle for a 34-yard field goal with 1:50 remaining. (Eagles 14 - Cardinals 6)
- TOUCHDOWN! Jones found the end zone again with just 16 seconds left! The 22-yard pass from Hurts was tipped by former Eagle Andre Chachere, but had enough steam to get to the veteran receiver just short of the goal line. Jones was able to muscle his way across the line for his second touchdown of the game. A Kenneth Gainwell 17-yard pass on a fake Brotherly Shove to DeVonta Smith on third down kept the drive moving. The 1:34 drive ended the half on a high note for the Eagles. (Eagles 21 - Cardinals 6)
Third Quarter
- The Cardinals drove down the field on the opening possession of the half and found the end zone. Murray found Michael Carter for a 6-yard score with 8:42 remaining. Carter eluded the tackle of Shaquille Leonard before strolling into the end zone. (Eagles 21 - Cardinals 13)
- Murray magically escaped a sack to find Conner for a 5-yard score with 2:01 left in the quarter. Murray then found Michael Wilson to complete the two-point conversion. (Cardinals 21 - Eagles 21)
Fourth Quarter
- TOUCHDOWN! Hurts found a wide-open Goedert for a 9-yard score to put the Birds back in the lead with 9:55 to go! Hurts rolled to his right and fired a pass to the tight end who dragged his feet in the front-right corner of the end zone. Swift's 44 rushing yards aided to the success of the drive. (Eagles 28 - Cardinals 21)
- The Cardinals marched quickly down the field to tie the score at 28 with 5:26 remaining. On fourth-and-4 from the Philadelphia 5-yard line, Murray beat the blitz by firing a dart to Michael Wilson, who beat Kelee Ringo off the line. (Cardinals 28 - Eagles 28)
- Field Goal! Jake Elliott makes his first field goal of the game to give the Eagles the lead back with 2:33 to go. The Cardinals chose to execute an onside kick which was recovered by Eli Ricks. Philadelphia settled for the 43-yard field goal after failing to get their second first down of the drive. (Eagles 31 - Cardinals 28)
- The Eagles' defense failed to get a stop, allowing the Cardinals to take the lead with 32 seconds left. Conner capped off a 128-yard performance with a 2-yard touchdown run. (Cardinals 34 - Eagles 31)
- Hurts' Hail Mary attempt is intercepted by Joey Blount in the end zone to end the game.
The Eagles host the Arizona Cardinals in the final regular-season home contest of the 2023 season. The Eagles need to win to remain atop the NFC East and keep their hopes alive for the No. 1 seed, while the Cardinals with former Eagles Defensive Coordinator Jonathan Gannon look to play spoiler.
