Eagles football is back from Brazil!

The Eagles and Packers officially kicked off their 2024 seasons in the historic first-ever NFL game played in South America on Friday night.

In what was a back-and-forth battle for all 4 quarters, the Eagles pulled out the victory 34-29 to move to 1-0 on the new season.

"What an unbelievable atmosphere for a football game. Miss the Linc (Lincoln Financial Field), miss our fans at the Linc, but Brazil, I mean, wow, that was incredible. And it was a, it was fun, it felt like a playoff atmosphere. I mean, people of Brazil, that was something incredible, and we really appreciate it. We appreciate the hospitality. We appreciate the fan support," Head Coach Nick Sirianni said.

"It was great. It was loud the entire time. It's been great ever since we got here. They've been treating us well and it was just great to see the city, so I'm glad that we got the opportunity to come down here and play," wide receiver A.J. Brown said.

First Quarter

  • After a touchdown play was called back due to offsetting offensive and defensive penalties, the Packers had to punt on their first drive. Green Bay lined up to go for it on 4th-and-6, but a false start set them back, resulting in a punt.
  • An interception by Xavier McKinney on a throw from Jalen Hurts gave the Packers the ball at the Eagles' 19-yard line. The defense held strong, not letting Green Bay in the end zone, but a 31-yard field goal from Brayden Narveson gave the Packers the lead. (Packers 3 – Eagles 0)
  • Hurts fumbled a snap from center Cam Jurgens and the Packers recovered the ball at the Eagles' 13-yard line. The Packers were held out of the end zone once again after good coverage from Quinyon Mitchell and Darius Slay. Narveson knocked in another field goal to extend the first-quarter lead. (Packers 6 – Eagles 0)
  • "Just keep the main thing, the main thing, keep pressing on. I think how we responded as a team, we all experienced some adversity, but we all dug deep and kept pressing forward. It's all things that you can control, and we continue to find our rhythm as a football team. But it's always good to be able to figure it out with the win. So good to start the season off in the win column," Hurts said.

Second Quarter

  • TOUCHDOWN! Jalen Hurts threw a rope from the 18-yard line as Saquon Barkley made the grab in the end zone for the first Eagles touchdown of the year. (Eagles 7 – Packers 6)
  • "It's a great start, at the end of the day, the most important thing is to get to win football games, and that's hard to do in this league, especially against a great team like that," Barkley said.
  • The Packers came right back with a score of their own – wide receiver Jayden Reed came around the right end for a 33-yard rushing touchdown the give Green Bay the lead back. The Packers went for the 2-point conversion, but Josh Jacobs was stopped by Nakobe Dean among others. (Packers 12 – Eagles 7)
  • TOUCHDOWN! Barkley found the end zone for the second time, weaving through the defense on an 11-yard run. Hurts led the offense down the field, completing passes to DeVonta Smith and A.J. Brown, including a 3rd-and-1 conversion via the stapled "tush push." (Eagles 14 – Packers 12)
  • "He played really well tonight. He should have had four touchdowns and I told him that (jokingly), but he helps us out. When you get the ground game going, it helps with the passing game, so we're excited that he's on our team and he started his season out great," Brown said about Barkley.
  • Once again, it didn't take long for the Packers to respond. Jordan Love found Reed again, this time through the air for a 70-yard touchdown – Love's longest touchdown pass of his career. (Packers 19 – Eagles 14)
  • After a drive that lasted more than five minutes, the Eagles finished the first half with a 38-yard field goal from Jake Elliott. (Packers 19 – Eagles 17)

Third Quarter

  • TOUCHDOWN! Hurts found Brown deep for a 67-yard touchdown just 51 seconds into the start of the second half. (Eagles 24 – Packers 19)
  • "I had a double move, I fought through contact and Jalen (Hurts) gave me a good ball," Brown said.
  • The Eagles' defense came out strong to start the half, staying disciplined on an attempted flea-flicker forcing Love to throw it away. On the next play, Big Play Slay knocked the ball loose from Jacobs but Green Bay recovered the ball. A roughing the passer penalty on Zack Baun extended the Packers' drive which would lead to a Christian Watson touchdown. Love found Watson on a 2-yard slant to give Green Bay the lead right back. (Packers 26 – Eagles 24)
  • INTERCEPTION! Reed Blankenship picked off Love's pass thanks to great protection and a deflection from Baun to give the Eagles the ball at the Packers' 24-yard line.
  • TOUCHDOWN! Barkley notched the hat trick – this time on a 2-yard run up the middle as he dragged defenders with him across the goal line. (Eagles 31 – Packers 26)
  • "A hat trick is never a bad thing, but there's so much that I can do, and that's the kind of player that I am. I'm always gonna be like that. Go back and watch film, and obviously look at the good, but there's a lot of bad in there too," Barkley said.
  • The Packers got downfield but Narveson's 43-yard field goal hit the right upright and missed to keep the Eagles lead at 5. Barkley exploded out of the backfield for a 34-yard run to close out the 3rd quarter.

Fourth Quarter

  • Following the big run from Barkley, Hurts threw his second interception of the night as Jaire Alexander caught the pass intended for Brown in the end zone, returning it out to the Green Bay 13-yard line.
  • The Packers applied pressure ripping of a pair of chunk plays – Jacobs began the drive with a 32-yard rush followed by a 26-yard reception from Reed a couple plays later to the Eagles' 24. Narveson finished the drive with a 26-yard field goal to bring the Packers within two. (Eagles 31 – Packers 29)
  • The Eagles got the ball back with 7:52 remaining in the game and churned out a drive that lasted nearly the rest of the game. Elliott knocked in a 21-yard field goal to extend the lead with 30 seconds remaining in the game.
  • The Packers started the drive with 22 seconds left and no timeouts as Love completed a pass to Reed for 33 yards to the Green Bay 49. A few plays later, Love went down after the play and limped off the field, leaving Malik Willis to come in with 6 seconds remaining. After a quick incompletion, Willis was sacked by none other than Baun as the Eagles walked away with the victory. (Eagles 34 – Packers 29)
