On whether he saw that the Saints' field position was a problem: "It's tough when we have turnovers and bad field position against a good team like that. It's really our own fault. We were making a lot of mistakes out there and that's something that we've got to fix."
On whether he feels as though, overall, this Eagles team is more like the team that played well last week against the Carolina Panthers or the team that did not play well this week: "We are the team that we had last week. This week is a game where you've got to watch the film, learn from it and move on. That's just not what we do around here. We were playing on our heels and we weren't playing aggressive and we can't do that against a good team. They're a good team and they came out and made a lot of good plays but I feel like we're a good team and we just didn't play our best game today."
On whether he feels it is important that the players not let the opponent get to them and allow it to snowball as they look ahead to the rest of the season: "Absolutely. We're going to go back to work tomorrow. That kind of stuff can't happen. We can't let it snowball and we're going to get that fixed. All the mistakes that we made, all the little stuff that we were giving up today, we're going to nip that in the bud and that starts in practice this week. We've got the (Kansas City) Chiefs coming in and we've got to come ready to play."
On whether he was surprised that while special teams played well last week, they had turnovers and penalties this week that proved to be problematic for the team: "Yes, it killed us. Even with watching the film last week, we had some things that could have been called on special teams. We pride ourselves on playing well on special teams, playing disciplined on special teams and that wasn't what we did today. Whatever it takes, we're going to get that fixed. We can't win games against anyone doing that kind of stuff, so we'll get that fixed this week and it's not going to happen again."
On what the difficulty was with putting pressure on (Saints QB Drew Brees) and how it was different from putting pressure on the quarterbacks last week: "I think they're two totally different teams. Drew Brees is a very smart quarterback and they have a good system and he gets the ball out quickly. When you have a quarterback who's just getting the ball out, it's tough to get a whole lot of pressure. That being said, we didn't execute. We've got to make tackles; we've got to have guys on the receivers that are catching the ball. That's another thing that we're going to work on this week."
On whether there were as many blitzes called this game as there were last week: "I think, honestly, we had just as many blitzes in this week as we did last week. It's just a different type of game plan and it's really one of those things where they just made more plays than we did. We gave pressure when we needed to, we got guys into position, but they just went out there and made plays and that can't happen with this good of a team."
On what the first five minutes of the second half were like, after bringing momentum into the locker room at halftime and losing it within five minutes of play in the third quarter: "That's tough. We put ourselves in a bad position and as a defense, it really doesn't matter. We've been in that position before and we've held people to field goals. That's something that we've got to get better at. It's still early and we've still got a lot of growth to get under us but these are the times that if you're a good defense and you want to be a great defense, you've got to stop that kind of stuff. We'll go to work on it this week and go from there."
On whether it is even more important to tackle against a quarterback who gets the ball out so quickly: "Absolutely. You don't want to allow a lot of (yards after the catch). We had a little bit today. We've just got to get back to the basics at rock bottom- look at the guy when you're tackling him and keep your head up. As long as I've been here, we've had our ups and downs and, unfortunately, this was really a down game but the thing that we can do is learn from this and move on and get better. We can only get better than what we did today."
On whether he feels as though Brees was better than he has been in the past:"I think he was really good today. I take my hat off to him because he did a really good job and they had a good game plan. I think, that being said, we kind of gave up some stuff and you can't do that against a good quarterback. Stuff happens sometimes but you just have to go back to work. We're not going to get down on ourselves, we're not going to start doubting ourselves and killing each other. We're going to stick together and we're going to fix this thing."
On how he felt about the game not going how they would have planned with a quarterback making his first start and the team being down double digits at the start of the third quarter: "We didn't plan for it. It happens sometimes. (QB)Kevin (Kolb)- I feel bad- he had a really good game and we put him in a bad position. He's going to be a good player and we believe in him. I just think that as a defense, we've got to keep the points down. We learn from this. We got our butts kicked out there but we take this and we learn from it and move on."
