Darrius Heyward-Bey is no longer the only first-round receiver from this year's draft to be under contract. The Giants inked Hakeem Nicks, the 29th overall pick out of North Carolina, to a five-year, $12.5 million contract according to Pro Football Talk. Nicks was the fifth of six receivers to be drafted in the first round. All eyes are going to be on him because he was selected to replace the production from Plaxico Burress.
The signings for the first-round picks are coming now at a furious pace. This morning alone, three first-round picks - including Nicks - have signed. Texans linebacker Brian Cushing (No. 15 overall) and Cardinals running back Chris Wells (No. 31) were the other two.
Obviously, we're keeping an eye on this as there is no update on Jeremy Maclin's situation. According to Pro Football Talk, 18 of the 32 first-round draft picks are now under contract.
