The Eagles picked up a win in their regular-season finale to improve to 14-3 after taking down the Giants 20-13 at Lincoln Financial Field. Their 14th win of the season tied a franchise record (14-3 in 2022).
"It's taken a lot of people to win 14 games. There's been a lot of contributions from a lot of different people," Head Coach Nick Sirianni said after the game. "Had some bumps and bruises along the way and a lot of guys have stepped in and played. When you win 14 games, it takes everybody."
With the No. 2 seed locked in, Philadelphia rested many of their starters in today's game.
It was Tanner Time as Tanner McKee made his first career NFL start, throwing for 269 yards and two touchdowns.
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Jeffrey Lurie picked up is 300th victory as the Eagles' owner with the win.
Nick Sirianni earned his 50th career victory as a head coach (including playoffs). In the regular season, Sirianni has produced a 48-20 (.706) record in four years with Philadelphia.
Here's how it happened:
First Quarter
- The Giants put together a 10-play, 36-yard drive to open the game offensively before being stopped on 4th-and-8 at the Philadelphia 49 after Kelee Ringo broke up Drew Lock's pass intended for Darius Slayton.
- Dallas Goedert is back! McKee completed his first two passes to the tight end who returned from Injured Reserve for a combined 33 yards.
- "He hasn't played in a while, so we thought he had to get some good practice this week and play in this game," Sirianni said about Goedert.
- TOUCHDOWN! McKee found Ainias Smith for the receiver's first career touchdown to open the scoring on a 15-yard pass into the end zone. (Eagles 7 – Giants 0)
- "It definitely felt good getting the first touchdown for sure, definitely blessed and honored," Smith said. "Honestly, it was a roll out play action pass. You know, defense stepped down to the run, and it kind of cleared up for me on a little over route right into the end zone, caught it back side, so it was smooth."
Second Quarter
- The Eagles got down to the Giants' 21-yard line before Jake Elliott missed a 39-yard field goal to the left to open the quarter.
- The Eagles defense continued to keep the Giants out of the end zone with another fourth down stop from the Philadelphia 34.
- The Eagles' offense began driving after McKee found Jahan Dotson on a beautifully timed deep pass for 19 yards to get near New York territory with 5:30 remaining in the half.
- "Coming in this week, we knew our guys were going to be resting, so I knew there was going to be a good opportunity for me to make some plays for the team and I was able to do so today and get a win," Dotson said.
- FIELD GOAL! Elliott knocked it in from 24 yards to make it a double digit game with 1:44 remaining. (Eagles 10 – Giants 0)
Third Quarter
- The Giants put together a long opening drive to start the second half, going 58 yards in 10 plays before ultimately settling for a 25-yard field from Graham Gano to get on the board. (Eagles 10 – Giants 3)
- After a defensive battle for most of the third, McKee and the Eagles got back in New York territory with the help of two catches for 31 yards from Dotson. The Eagles ended the third quarter at the Giants' seven-yard line.
Fourth Quarter
- TOUCHDOWN! McKee found tight end E.J. Jenkins on a 7-yard strike to the right corner of the end zone on an out route for the first touchdown catch of Jenkins' career. It was also the first catch of the former collegiate wide receiver's career. (Eagles 17 –Giants 3)
- "Just all the hard work and preparation every week, just preparing and just making sure that I'm ready for the moment. Having your habits developed week in and week out so days like this, you're not surprised if something good happens, because you've been working on it every week," Jenkins said about his first touchdown. "Just knowing that my hard work has a good reward, it just makes you want to just push harder for these guys and this team. We're really all a family in this locker room. It just makes you want to fight harder for your brother next week."
- The Giants scored their first touchdown of the game after Lock found Malik Nabers open for a 45-yard touchdown catch and run. Nabers made the catch and broke a tackle to step up, dancing along the sideline to get the score. (Eagles 17 – Giants 10)
- Gano put through a 53-yard field goal to make it a four-point game with 7:21 remaining in the game. (Eagles 17 – Giants 13)
- FIELD GOAL! Elliott knocked in a 32-yard field goal with 51 seconds remaining.
- INTERCEPTION! Sydney Brown picked off Lock's pass for his first of the year and returned it Giants' 46 for a gain of 21 yards to close out the game.
- Up next is the Wild Card Round at Lincoln Financial Field against the Packers. (Eagles 20 – Giants 13)
