Herremans Aims To Return For Oakland Game

The scooter has been replaced by a boot. Hopefully, the boot will soon be gone as well.

Guard Todd Herremans has missed the first three games of the season after undergoing surgery to repair a stress fracture in his left foot. Until last Friday, he had not been able to put weight on the foot. Everywhere he went, he was accompanied by a scooter on which he would rest his leg.

"It feels great to get off the scooter. I was sick of it to say the least," Herremans said at his locker on Monday. "I'm very happy right now."

Herremans had recently said that he was aiming to return for the Oct. 26 Monday night showdown in Washington. However, Herremans is holding out a possible return one week earlier.

"I'm shooting for Oakland," Herremans said. "I don't know. We'll see at the doctor's appointment today."

Herremans can now do rehab work in the pool. He hopes the doctor will allow him to take the boot off for good today. If he can run in the pool and experience no pain, he can begin to run on land.

The adjustment to walking again has caused Herremans' left calf to be sore. Despite not putting weight on the leg in five weeks, according to Herremans, a return to the lineup should not take that much longer because it's like "riding a bike."
