The Eagles waived/injured linebacker Phillip Hunt on Tuesday, trimming the roster to 75 players ahead of the 4 PM deadline to do so. Hunt tore his ACL earlier this month during Training Camp.
If Hunt clears waivers by 4 PM on Wednesday, he will return to the Eagles and be placed on Injured Reserve. That same procedure occurs with cornerback Eddie Whitley, who suffered a knee injury during Saturday night's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars and was released on Sunday. The team will find out at 4 PM today if Whitley does indeed return.
Hunt, 27, was among the players making the transition from 4-3 defensive end to 3-4 outside linebacker this offseason. He recorded 1.0 sack for the Eagles in 13 games in 2012 after joining the team in 2011.
