Two promising rookies underwent surgery this week as they begin the process of rehabbing and looking towards next season.
Serving as the team's primary kick returner for the better part of the season, Jorrick Calvin was placed on season-ending injured reserve with an injured back after the Week 14 win against New York. Calvin underwent microdisectomy surgery on his lower back on January 3 by Dr. Alex Vaccaro of the Rothman Institute at Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia.
Defensive tackle Jeff Owens ruptured his patella tendon against the Vikings in Week 16, thus ending his season in the first game of his career. Owens underwent surgery to repair his left knee patella tendon as well as microfracture surgery on January 5 by Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham, Ala.
Owens will also have surgery to repair his ACL at a later date.
