The Eagles returned to the NovaCare Complex for Monday's practice after Sunday's open session at Lincoln Financial Field.
Safety Kenny Phillips was one of nine players sidelined Monday due to injury. He left Sunday's workout with a quad strain. It should be noted from a depth chart standpoint that rookie Earl Wolff worked extensively at first-team safety alongside Patrick Chung during practice. Defensive coordinator Bill Davis explained after practice that it was planned for Wolff to see time with the first-team unit on Monday. He is mixing and matching personnel to find the best fit. The promotion is not a permanent one.
In addition to Phillips, tackles Jason Peters (hamstring), Dennis Kelly (back) and Ed Wang (knee) remained out of action. Also out were: linebacker Casey Matthews (knee), long snapper Jon Dorenbos (concussion), linebacker Phillip Hunt (knee) and running back Bryce Brown (quad). Guard Danny Watkins was rested due to a concussion.
Tackle Lane Johnson was absent from practice. He traveled to Oklahoma for the birth of his first child, who was born on Saturday.
