MINNEAPOLIS --DeSean Jackson could have had more. He wanted more. As it turned out, though, what he had against Minnesota was 195 yards on a career-high 10 catches and a touchdown in the 48-30 loss Sunday at the Mall Of America Field.
"Honestly, we should have come out there and have had a lot more success, but we weren't able to have it," Jackson said after the game. "That's neither here nor there. We weren't able to get it done. It's very frustrating, especially with the way we've played the last couple of weeks."
Jackson was all over the field against the Vikings, who were banged up in the secondary and very willing to give up some yardage, particularly after gaining a 27-9 lead in the third quarter.
"Going into this game, I didn't think they were going to be able to stop us," said Jackson, who now has a career-high 1,275 yards on the season. "Sometimes that's what happens when you don't play your (best) game. The other guys are in the NFL, too. It's frustrating because I know how talented and how dangerous this offense can be. Throughout the game, just seeing us not be able to do things, just being off, really was frustrating."
Jackson tried to spark a comeback, chasing down a Nick Foles pass to score a 30-yard touchdown, but it wasn't enough. Jackson's 195-yard day was the fifth 100-yard game of his season, tying him for most in a season (2009) in his career. He came up just short of his career-high 210 yards, which he had against Dallas in 2010.
"I still feel like I'm one of the best receivers in this league and I can go out and contribute to help my team win," Jackson said. "In the first half, obviously, we weren't able to get going."
The shame of it was that Jackson could have had more. The Eagles made a brilliant call early in the second quarter on a fourth-and-1 play, as Jackson took a handoff from wide receiver Riley Cooper on an end around from the Minnesota 18-yard line and danced down the left sideline into the end zone.
But the apparent touchdown was called back as Foles was penalized for a peel-back block, and Jackson's effort was wiped off the books.
"I knew how big of a game this was and that's why I was trying to do anything I could to win this game," Jackson said.
