Rookie safety Jaiquawn Jarrett will split reps with Kurt Coleman at safety alongside Nate Allen, head coach Andy Reid said Wednesday. Jarrett. a Temple product, has not yet played on defense during the regular season and has been inactive for four games.
Allen, Reid reiterated, played his best game as an Eagle against the Buffalo Bills.
Reid was also sure to shoot down rumors about the team looking to bring in a defensive consultant during the bye week, including a recent report that former Cleveland Browns head coach Eric Mangini had been an option.
"That was all fabricated," Reid said. "I wasn't in touch with anybody. Nobody. Nothing. Zero."
On the injury front, defensive tackle Cullen Jenkins will be limited in practice with a triceps strain, but Reid believes Jenkins "will play." Also not practicing for the Eagles Wednesday are defensive Juqua Parker (high ankle srain), left tackle Jason Peters (hamstring), defensive end Trent Cole (calf) and safety Jarrad Page (stinger). Cole and Peters will be "a stretch" to play this week against the Washington Redskins.
