Tackle Jason Peters and linebacker Jordan Hicks are both out for the season, head coach Doug Pederson announced Tuesday afternoon. Peters suffered a torn ACL and MCL early in the third quarter and was carted off the field. Hicks ruptured his Achilles tendon on the second play of the game. The injuries are huge blows for both the offense and defense.
Pederson will determine within the next few days whether tackle Halapoulivaati Vaitai will fill Peters' role at left tackle or move Lane Johnson to the left side.
As far as replacing Hicks, Joe Walker, Nigel Bradham, and Najee Goode will be relied upon to help at linebacker.
"When you look at the injury list and the guys that we've lost, Darren Sproles, Chris Maragos, JP, and Jordan, I mean guys that are significant starters and role players and leaders and captains on your football team, it can make an impact," Pederson said. "One of the things I've talked about and hopefully you guys have seen it with the team and talking to the players is it's definitely the next man up and they rally around the guys that are hurt and support them but at the same time the bigger picture is we still have a lot of football left and we still have a game this Sunday and the season's not over.
"Lot of confidence in all the guys, great group of leaders on the team and they'll be ready to go."
