The Eagles re-signed the elder statesman of the linebacker corps, Akeem Jordan, to a two-year deal on Tuesday.
Entering his fifth NFL season, Jordan was an unrestricted free agent earlier this offseason and returned to the Eagles on a one-year deal. Jordan was originally signed by the Eagles back in 2007 as a rookie free agent out of James Madison.
Jordan is the backup to Casey Matthews at middle linebacker, but more importantly one of the aces on special teams. Jordan led the Eagles with 258 special teams points in 2010. The 6-1, 230-pound linebacker has played at all three linebacker positions, amassing 181 tackles, one sack and two interceptions in 53 career games (20 starts), while also contributing 71 special teams tackles.
