Just two days after helping the Eagles win their second Super Bowl on the home sideline of the Caesars Superdome, Offensive Coordinator Kellen Moore has been named the next head coach of the New Orleans Saints.

Moore came to Philadelphia last offseason from the Los Angeles Chargers, where he was the offensive coordinator in 2023.

In his only season with the Eagles, he coordinated an offense that finished seventh in scoring offense (27.2 points per game) and eighth in total offense (367.2 yards per game).

When the playoffs came around, Moore turned the offense up even higher. The Eagles totaled 145 points in four postseason games – the most scored in a single postseason in NFL history.

"Just can't say enough good things about what he's done here as our coordinator, how much I think of him as a playcaller and offensive coordinator. I think of him very highly as a person. A great man of character and everything he stands for. I think he would be a great head coach. I have no doubt in my mind. He will be a great head coach," Head Coach Nick Sirianni said in January.

"Puts the guys in good positions to succeed. Can lead men. Is a good leader of men. You know, as I get to sit here and watch him install the offense, you can see that and you can say, 'Man, he'd be great in front of the team.' He's in front of the offense right now, but man, he'd be great in front of the entire team, inspiring the team, getting his message across to the team, coaching football to the team. You know, coaching the ins and outs of football."

A former NFL quarterback for the Lions (2012-14) and Cowboys (2014-17), Moore joined the Dallas coaching staff as a quarterbacks coach in 2018. In 2019, he was promoted to offensive coordinator, which he would remain as until 2022 before joining the Chargers.

During his four-year stint as the offensive coordinator for the Cowboys, Moore orchestrated a unit that ranked second in the NFL in total offense (391.0 ypg), scoring offense (27.7 ppg), and touchdowns, third in first downs per game (22.5), fourth in passing offense (264.4 ypg) and third-down conversion rate (44.1 pct.), and seventh in rushing offense (126.6 ypg). He helped Dallas to three playoff appearances and two NFC East Championships.

The 36-year-old Moore will join a Saints team that finished 5-12 in 2024, including a 15-12 loss to the Eagles in Week 3 in New Orleans. – Written by Liam Wichser
