Prior to Thursday's practice at the NovaCare Complex, Chip Kelly addressed his team's injury situation for Sunday' NFC East clash against the Dallas Cowboys.
According to Kelly, Michael Vick's status remains day-to-day, the same as it has been since the quarterback's hamstring pull suffered against the Giants.
I talked to him this morning and he said he's going to run around a little bit more today, so we'll see where it is," Kelly said.
After practice, however, Vick told reporters that he will not be playing on Sunday.
"I'm not playing this week," said Vick. "Every day I'm just working anf trying to get better... I'm trying to take it one day at a time, so I just can't rush it."
Left tackle Jason Peters (shoulder, finger) and running back Chris Polk (shoulder) did not participate in Wednesday's practice, but Kelly said today that those two, along with the every other player on the roster, will be practicing on Thursday.
"Jason should practice today," said Kelly. "Everybody's going to practice today, so we'll see what he can do and then get an evaluation on him after today's practice…If Jason couldn't go- but I don't anticipate that because he's going to practice today- then Allen (Barbre) would go in Jason's spot."
"(Polk) is going to practice today... We don't have another running back on the roster so we'd have to make a move where we cut somebody and add somebody (as our third running back), but we're not at that stage right now. We kind of have to be comfortable with it. Again, we've got some guys that we practice (at running back) that for some reason if we went into the game with two, we have contingency plans of who can be three and who could be four."
Along with Vick, Patrick Chung (shoulder) and Donnie Jones (foot) were listed as limited participants on Wednesday's injury report, with James Casey (groin) participating fully. Thursday's injury report will be posted later this afternoon.
