Kelly: Nothing Official On Barbre, Mathis

Chip Kelly said that offensive linemen Allen Barbre and Evan Mathis underwent MRIs on Monday, but the head coach had not yet met with head team physician Dr. Peter DeLuca or head athletic trainer Chris Peduzzi to go over the test results.

Mathis suffered a left knee injury in the second quarter of Sunday's win. Shortly after, Barbre exited the game with a right ankle injury.

Earlier this morning, Kelly told SportsRadio 94WIP that he did not believe Mathis' injury was of the season-ending variety. Kelly explained at his Monday press conference that he was told immediately after the game by the training staff that Mathis injured his MCL, not his ACL, but the team wanted to wait for the results from the MRI to confirm. Kelly said he will meet with the training staff Monday afternoon to evaluate the test.

Andrew Gardner went in at left guard for Mathis before shifting to right tackle to fill Barbre's spot. David Molk took the left guard spot.

Kelly said that "considering the circumstances" the two played "pretty well." Molk had never played guard in a game as he is the backup center to Jason Kelce.

Backup guard Matt Tobin, who was out for Sunday's game with an ankle injury, has "progressed," according to Kelly. Guard Dennis Kelly was inactive, but is healthy.

"Dennis played really, really well in the preseason," said Chip Kelly.
