The Eagles announced Tuesday that linebacker Jason Phillips has been released. Phillips was originally signed as a free agent in 2013, but suffered a torn ACL during Training Camp last summer. He was competing for a spot at inside linebacker.
The 28-year-old Phillips has played in 30 games since joining the league as a fifth-round pick of the Baltimore Ravens in 2009. He was credited with two tackles during the Eagles' first two preseason games.
The release of Phillips marks the first transaction the Eagles have made since the start of Training Camp.
