A day after the release of veteran wide receiver Miles Austin, the Eagles have filled the vacant spot on the 53-man roster by signing linebacker Steven Means off of the Houston Texans' practice squad.
The 6-3, 263-pound Means entered the NFL as a fifth-round pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2013 out of Buffalo. Means played 10 games as a rookie and the 2014 season opener before being released. He signed with Baltimore's practice squad and was promoted to the active roster for one game. He suffered a groin injury in the 2015 preseason opener and was released by the Ravens with an injury settlement at the end of Training Camp. Means joined Houston's practice squad in October.
At the University of Buffalo, Means had 186 tackles, 30.5 tackles for loss, 19.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, two interceptions and five blocked kicks.
