Five Eagles players were either limited or held out of practice Monday at the NovaCare Complex three days before the regular-season opener against the Atlanta Falcons.
Wide receivers Alshon Jeffery and Mack Hollins did not practice with the team. Neither did tight end Richard Rodgers due to a knee injury. Jeffery was activated off the Physically Unable to Perform list on Saturday but is still recovering from a shoulder injury. It is unclear if he will be able to play in the opener.
Hollins is recovering from a groin injury. He played in the first preseason game on August 9 against the Steelers but was sidelined for the other three. After practice on Monday, he told reporters that he felt like he had a strong camp before his injury.
"I feel ready," Hollins said. "I was good and then it flares up so I back off, go back up, back off. I thought it was good. I'm here so obviously it was good enough, but I can always improve."
When asked if he would play on Thursday, Hollins said, "Yeah, I feel ready.
"I'm just ready to get in there, see that Rocky film, get rolling, and have the crowd go crazy and us to kick the ball off."
Quarterback Carson Wentz, who has not yet been cleared for contact in his recovery from a torn ACL and will not play Thursday, practiced in a limited role Monday. Running back Jay Ajayi was limited as well with a foot injury. He told reporters after practice that he expects to play against Atlanta.
"It's good," Ajayi said. "I think it's just about getting back out there and getting ready for the game plan we've got this week and I think it's just about taking these steps day by day getting ready for the game.
"I'm working to it, I'm getting there. But I think I'll be ready for the game."
For the Falcons, safety Ricardo Allen (thigh), wide receiver Marvin Hall (ankle), and linebackers Deion Jones (hamstring) and Foye Oluokun (ankle) were full participants in practice.
Cornerback Isiah Oliver (ankle) was limited while guard Ben Garland (calf), long snapper Josh Harris (hip), and cornerback Blidi Wreh-Wilson (shoulder) did not participate in practice.
