Running back LeSean McCoy etched his name in the franchise's record book after rushing for a team-record and NFL-best 1,607 yards in 2013. It's one of four team records he set last season.

McCoy's impact was felt beyond the football field. In the five seasons he has played with the Eagles, McCoy has weaved his way into the fabric of the Philadelphia community. McCoy has been granted many honors for his performance last season, but on Wednesday the John Wanamaker Award was bestowed upon him by the Philadelphia Sports Congress.

Since 1961, the John Wanamaker Athletic Award has been presented to "the athlete, team or organization that has done the most to reflect credit upon Philadelphia and to the team or sport in which they excel." Recent award winners include boxer Bernard Hopkins and Phillies pitcher Roy Halladay. Donovan McNabb was the last Eagle to win the award in 2002, according to Philadelphia's Official Global Convention and Visitors Site. McCoy was presented by the man who mentored him as a rookie and showed him how to be a pro - Brian Westbrook.

"I am humbled and appreciative to be named the John Wanamaker Award winner for 2014. It's an unbelievable honor to share an award that has been previously won by Dr. J, Reggie White, Charles Barkley, Randall Cunningham, Bernard Hopkins and Mike Schmidt," said McCoy. "It is an amazing feeling. I want to thank my teammates, my coaches and the entire Eagles organization for believing in me and giving me an opportunity to play in this great city of Philadelphia."

After earning Pro Bowl and All-Pro honors for the second time in 2013, McCoy is on the verge of setting even more team records in 2014 including the franchise's all-time mark for yards rushing. Wilbert Montgomery holds the mark with 6,538 yards. McCoy is fourth on the list with 5,473 - only 1,065 yards behind.

McCoy, and teammate Nick Foles, are also up for ESPY Awards. You can vote for them here.
