On the heels of his 30-carry, 185-yard rushing game against the Dallas Cowboys Sunday night, Eagles running back LeSean McCoy has been named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week. Those 30 carries and 185 rushing yards were career highs for McCoy, who also scored two touchdowns in the game, bringing his total to 10 on the season.
Through seven games this season, McCoy ranks second in the league in rushing, behind only Adrian Peterson of the Minnesota Vikings, who has played eight games. McCoy also leads qualifying running backs with 5.6 yards per carry and is tied with Peterson for the touchdowns scored by running backs. He is on pace to run for 1,723 yards, which would surpass Wilbert Montgomery's franchise record for rushing yards in a season (1,512 in 1979).
McCoy is the first Eagles to win Offensive Player of the Week honors since Michael Vick did it in Week 15 of the 2010 season following the Miracle at the New Meadowlands. Safety Kurt Coleman also won the NFC Defensive Player of the Week award two weeks ago after he recorded three interceptions against the Washington Redskins.
McCoy is also nominated for the FedEx Ground Player of the Week. You can vote for him here.
