Running back LeSean McCoy and left tackle Jason Peters were both named to the Associated Press All-Pro team on Friday. For McCoy, the All-Pro honor is a reward for a record-breaking season in which he set the Eagles' franchise record for touchdowns in a season (20, including 17 rushing) and rushed for an impressive 1,309 yards on 273 carries (4.8 yards per carry). The third-year running back's litany of accomplishments this season is impressive and includes his first Pro Bowl berth as well. Of 50 All-Pro ballots, McCoy was named on 29, the second-highest among running backs behind Maurice Jones-Drew of the Jacksonville Jaguars. This is McCoy's first time being recognized as an All-Pro.
"There are so many things I can do better," McCoy told the AP. "I look at the numbers and see so many plays I left on the field, so many yards. I can perfect my game a lot more."
Peters, meanwhile, has been honored as a second-team All-Pro twice before, but this is his first placement on the first-team list. Peters led all tackles with 27 All-Pro votes. The dominant left tackle has been called the best in the game by the likes of Cris Collinsworth of NBC's Sunday Night Football and Mike Mayock of NFL Network, and now, after taking well to Howard Mudd's offensive line scheme, he has the hardware to prove it.
Three other Eagles received votes, according to ProFootballTalk: defensive end Jason Babin, who finished the season with 18.0 sacks, received seven votes and will be named second-team All Pro alongside Justin Smith of the San Francisco 49ers. Guard Evan Mathis, who was signed as a free agent during training camp and started 15 games for the Eagles, received two votes and defensive tackle Mike Patterson, who was also named the team's Ed Block Courage Award recipient, received one vote.
