LeSean McCoy's brilliant season has caught the eye of not just Eagles fans, but all fans of the National Football League.
The results for the Pro Bowl fan vote were released on Wednesday and McCoy topped all NFL running backs with 962,824 votes. In fact, McCoy was sixth among ALL players in the NFL. The AFC and NFC Pro Bowl squads will be unveiled on Tuesday evening. The fan vote counts for one-third of the final tally with the players accounting for another third of the vote and the coaches making up the final third.
The league's leader in total touchdowns and rushing touchdowns, McCoy is a virtual lock to be named to his first Pro Bowl squad. What is amazing is that as of last Saturday, McCoy was not even first among running backs in the NFC. He was second to Minnesota's Adrian Peterson. On Sunday, McCoy rushed for three touchdowns to lead the Eagles to a 45-19 blowout win over the Jets.
The Pro Bowl will be played on January 29, 2012 at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu. Of course, McCoy will not be available to play if the Eagles can make the playoffs and reach the Super Bowl.
The NFL is the only sports league that combines voting by fans, coaches and players to determine its all-star teams. It was also the first pro sports league to offer online all-star voting in 1995.
