Donovan McNabb's status is still uncertain heading into Sunday's game against the New Orleans Saints, said Eagles head coach Andy Reid.
Reid said McNabb will try to battle through his fractured rib, and will do everything he can to play, but he will likely not participate in practice throughout the week.
"We've seen him do that before and play a pretty good game," Reid said when asked if McNabb could still play without practicing all week.
Kevin Kolb will take the first-team reps at quarterback during the week, and Reid has not yet decided on what to do with the No. 2 quarterback position.
In other injury news, Reid said Quintin Demps, who suffered a hamstring strain against the Panthers, will struggle to be able to play against the Saints. Shawn Andrews is still sidelined with a sore back, Todd Herremans is getting better after undergoing surgery on his left foot, and Joe Mays is "making quite a little bit of progress with his shoulder sprain."
Reid also assessed his team's performance in its 38-10 opening day victory.
"I thought the defense played really fast, and for a first game, they were well-coordinated through Sean (McDermott)," Reid said. "Sheldon (Brown) stood out with the two interceptions, and the defensive line, it always starts up front especially when you're playing a combination team like Carolina."
Reid also singled out Trent Cole, DeSean Jackson, Winston Justice, Chris Gocong, and McNabb for their play. And he was pleased with Brian Westbrook's first game-action of the 2009 season.
"It was good to get Westbrook in the game, to get him some game snaps instead of practice snaps," Reid said. "I thought overall he did a heck of a job. He looked fast on tape; he was decisive in his cuts. We did a little bit of pulling on the outside and he set those guys up pretty nicely."
The other pleasant surprise for Reid about the victorious weekend was the astounding presence of Eagles fans in Charlotte.
"I thought we had tremendous fan support down there," Reid said. "When we came to the hotel and left the hotel there were as many people as I've seen on the road and they were noticeable during the game."
Michael Vick is still unable to practice because of his presence on the exempt list, but he can be removed from that list at any time.
"We haven't made any decisions whether to take him off the exempt list or not," Reid said.
Vick is not eligible to play until week three against the Kansas City Chiefs.
