Tonight is the night. The Eagles are in São Paulo, Brazil, for the first-ever NFL game played in South America. Under the lights of Arena Corinthians, the team will suit up in an all-new uniform combination to kick off the 2024 season against the Packers.

Off the field, the wheels have been in motion for this historic event. There are countless writers, designers, producers, and artists, among others who have been working non-stop to put the best products out there for the big game.

One artist in particular, Tiff Urquhart, was in charge of creating the Eagles Gameday Poster for the monumental game. Urquhart has worked on a number of art pieces and murals throughout her career, and this time, she got to bring the unique style of Brazilian culture into her work.

Learn more about the artist behind the Eagles season-opening gameday poster, Tiff Urquhart:

Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and how you got into making poster art?

"I had a pretty imaginative childhood and had a passion for visual expression. I would draw on everything, whether it be bubble letters, weird made-up fonts, or on images in magazines. Billboards, movie posters, and large signage fascinated me. Growing up in the 90s, we had these gel pens of assorted colors. Needless to say, my folders were covered in designs and illustrations. I definitely had some type of passion for color and type, and it fueled my ambition for creativity to experiment with different formats and styles.

"I went to school for Graphic Design and Fine Art and was drawn to poster art and type with an illustrative style. This likely had an influence on my perspective and inspired me to explore more creative avenues which has led me to murals and street art."

What was the inspiration behind the poster for the Eagles-Packers?

"I wanted to create a poster design that captured São Paulo's unique blend of tradition and contemporary art. The festive atmosphere and the rich, abundant graffiti culture provided a fertile ground for inspiration. The bold colors, dynamic movement, and intricate details associated with the carnival and graffiti scene served as a foundation for the design."

What was the process of making that like? How did it come about?

"The process was done in layers. I took a maximalist approach, layering multiple colors, patterns, and textures to achieve a sense of both chaos and balance. Through this process, there was a sense of overwhelming beauty and sensory overload, much like that of a festival, football game, or any event with high energy. The visual experience might seem unpredictable, but the flow of the artwork almost brings you full circle with the Eagle's wings carrying your eye from start to finish. While the layers may appear chaotic at first, they were carefully composed to achieve a sense of harmony and cohesion. It's a beautiful chaos."

What other teams or sports poster-work have you done and how did it all come about?

"I have worked on multiple projects and murals for the Eagles, West Elm, local restaurants, bars, businesses, community centers, parks, and colleges. I don't like limiting myself to one specified medium or avenue and continue to explore different ways to challenge myself and push myself into unknown territories of art that I have yet to discover." – Compiled by Liam Wichser
