OT Vladimir Ducasse, Massachusetts | |||||
Pos. Rank: 8 | Grade: 3rd-4th Round | Height: 6-4 1/2 | Weight: 332 | 40: 5.21 | Year: 4-Sr. |
The Good: Athletic offensive lineman with terrific size and pass blocking skills. Stays square, bends his knees, and makes effective use of blocking angles. Effectively slides out off the edge, jolts defenders with good hand punch, then easily steers them from their angle of attack. Fluid moving out to the second level, redirects to linebackers and shows the ability to get into the secondary and hit a moving target. Moves very well on his feet and fundamentally sound in all aspects. Plays with a good degree of quickness and explosion.
The Bad: Lacks balance and does not always show good wherewithal on the field. Needs to develop a nasty attitude and must work harder to finish run blocks
The Verdict: Ducasse stood out to NFL decision-makers as a sophomore and has progressively gotten better on the field. He possesses the physical skills and mechanics to hold down a starting left tackle job in the NFL. Ducasse will need time to acclimate himself to the speed and size of the NFL but is a good prospect with a high upside.
