How's this for national recognition?
Fletcher Cox had a phenomenal season in 2014, consistently wreaking havoc on opposing offenses, yet he was somehow snubbed from the Pro Bowl. After his monstrous Week 5 performance against New Orleans, Cox is making sure that people take notice. On Wednesday he was named NFC Defensive Player of the Week for the first time in his career.
Cox recorded three sacks, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery in Sunday's 39-17 win over New Orleans, becoming the first player since 2007 to put up those numbers in a game, and the first Eagle to ever accomplish that.
Cox feasted on Saints rookie left tackle Andrus Peat (making his first NFL start) and the rest of the Saints offensive line on Sunday. Check out Fran Duffy's Eagle Eye breakdown to see exactly how Cox was able to be so effective on Sunday.
While Cox took home Defensive Player of the Week honors, Giants quarterback Eli Manning took home Offensive Player of the Week honors for the first time since 2011. The two honorees will clash on Monday night at Lincoln Financial Field.
